Here’s How Beyoncé Knowles Ended Up on That Episode of 'Lip Sync Battle'

TIME.com:
On last week’s episode of Lip Sync Battle, Beyoncé crashed Channing Tatum’s performance of her song, “Run the World (Girls).” The Hollywood Reporter has the full story on how that went down.

First of all, Tatum and Beyoncé had never met—so that moment when she struts onstage to join him was their first meeting ever.

“He’s dressed as her, dancing and singing to her song,” Casey Patterson, an executive producer on the show, told THR. “We were just hoping he would keep dancing.”

The show had been trying to get Beyoncé on for a year. According to Patterson, “She’s been the holy grail, and we’ve always been in contact with her camp. They know when we’re gearing up for production.”

Apparently Chan sent her a video message a few days before the show, and according to Patterson “that’s what put it over the top,” because Bey finally agreed to an appearance just one night before production.
In the meantime, Chan’s wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum, had no idea a Beyoncé cameo was even a possibility. So the total shock you see on her face in the clip is completely genuine.

LeToya Luckett Talks Starring Alongside Legendary Actress Ella Joyce in ‘Lucky Girl’

RollingOut.com:
R&B songstress LeToya Luckett is giving the marriage life a test drive in her lead role in urban comedy Lucky Girl. Luckett plays the character of  “Selena Jackson” in the Dan Garcia film along with an all-star cast including Columbus Short, Ella, Joyce, BillySorrells, Parker McKenna, Malik Yoba, Shanti Lowrey and more. ” Selena is very conflicted throughout the film because she is days away from marrying the man of her dreams but hasn’t quite gotten over her ex-lover. Taking on this the role wasn’t the norm for me, but I enjoyed the experience,” Luckett mentioned. The film was released Jan 5, on BET networks and can also be purchased at Walmart, Redbox, iTunes, Amazon and several cable networks.

Letoya took some time out of her busy schedule to chat with rolling out to detail more on her role, her close relationship with cast member Ella Joyce and her new show making its debut next month.

Tell me about you role as Selena in the film.
The reason why I was attracted to the film so much was because this character was different from any role I had ever played. I have never seen a storyline where a bride was still confused on her wedding day on whether she still wanted to be with her ex or her fiance. The plot twist at the end is a total shocker. Selena is constantly stuck in the past on several life situations. She can’t seem to wrap her head around her ex not being in her life anymore, but she has to come to grips with that whether she likes it or not.  It is such a cool film. It’s funny, dramatic and all those things wrapped up into one. There are just a lot of real life situations and scenarios wrapped into one.

What were some of the challenges you faced while getting in tune with your character for the film?
I had worked with this director before and he thought I would be perfect for this role. I read the script and was like this is something different so let me try it out. Once we got going I grew to love Selena. She is a little different than me. She is the one you have to hold real tight out of your friends and just give her a big hug every time you see her. I love playing different characters. I felt like she would be a bit of a challenge for me, but that is the part I love. I did the best I could with the character and I appreciate being able to have the opportunity to play different roles.

Who from the cast did you connect with the most on set?
Ella Joyce would always corner me and give me advice. I think that we connected the most out of anyone. She has been in the industry a lot longer than I have. She has really seen me grow in my career. I admire her for just being a woman of color in this industry, so I respect her critique. I appreciate that about her. Every time I see her she has something different to say.

What projects are you working on for 2016?
I have a new show that I am working on that is coming out on TV One called Here We Go Again starring myself and Wendy Raquel Williams. Also, on February 9, I will be dropping my single for my 3rd solo album around that time.

Judge Calls Mathew Knowles A Bad Dad, Orders Him To Pay $71K Child Support

Bossip.com:
Deadbeat dad Mathew Knowles tried to buy his baby mama’s silence with $225,000 after she told him she was pregnant with their now five-year-old daughter.

That’s according to a Houston family court judge, who ripped Knowles for giving baby mama Taqoya Branscomb the $225,000 “hush money” payment to persuade her from hauling him into court for child support.

Mr. Knowles knew of his paternity in September 2009 and clearly sought to avoid the establishment of a support obligation based primarily on the tolling agreement and the payment of monies pursuant to said agreement, which the court can only reasonably conclude was hush money,” Judge David D. Farr wrote as part of his ruling in Harris County District Court.

Koi was born in 2010, while Knowles was still married to Beyonce’s mother, Tina. Branscomb sued Knowles in 2014 over the paternity of the little girl, and the pair had been duking it out in court ever since.

In a ruling last month, the judge sided with Branscomb, ordering Knowles’ wages garnished to pay her $70,822 in back child support plus interest, along with $1,496 a month in regular child support. Knowles is also now responsible for the child’s health insurance as well as $50,000 in Branscomb’s attorney fees.

MTV Caught Itself Shading Michelle Williams While Trying to Big-Up Michelle Obama

TheRoot.com:
MTV plays too much.
There's a photo up on the network's Instagram account that photoshopped a photo of Michelle Obama into a Destiny's Child photo. The first lady replaces Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams.

"Michelle was always my favorite Destiny's Child," the caption reads. The post originally appeared on the Instagram page for SaintHoax—a self-described "sociopolitical activist."

Williams was apparently a good sport about it.

She reportedly posted and then deleted this response: “You guys play waaaaaaaay too much! I see the pettiness crept into 2016!!! Only because it's the one and only @michelleobama will I even entertain this!!!

This is a good one that I must laugh at!!!"
Nice that Williams has a sense of humor about the whole thing.

Kelly Rowland On Cover Of Parents Magazine: ‘Don’t Beat Yourself Up’ About Your Body After Baby

People.com:
Kelly Rowland has some “Motivation” for all new new moms: Don’t stress over your body after baby.

“Write on your mirror in lipstick: ‘I had a baby. I’m a superhero,’ ” the singer says in the February issue of Parents.

Rowland, 33, welcomed 14-month-old son Titan Jewel with husband Tim Weatherspoon in November 2014. And while she’s got a full plate — between changing diapers, recording her upcoming album, and filming her forthcoming reality singing competition Chasing Destiny — the new mom still manages to find time for exercise. (Rowland’s go-tos are spinning and workouts with a trainer.)

“People think of exercise as tiring, but it actually gives you energy,” the “Dumb” singer explains.

But Rowland insists every new mother gets back into her fitness regimen at her own pace.

“It takes about a year to get the weight off. Don’t beat yourself up if it takes even longer,” she says.

While the Destiny’s Child star has had no problem embracing body positivity, there were some physical aspects of motherhood she initially struggled with.

After experiencing a low milk supply (a common issue with breast implants; Rowland has been open about her decision to go from an A to a B cup size in October 2007), the singer had to turn to formula to supplement her baby boy’s feedings.

“I had my heart set on breastfeeding, but I wasn’t producing enough milk,” she shares. “I got down on myself, which I think was mentally limiting my supply.”

Ups and downs aside, her family of three has made her complete. “Being a  mom just makes me feel whole,” Rowland says.

Beyonce Knowles 'In No Way Tied' to Saartjie Baartman Film

Billboard.com:
After rumors swirling that Beyonce would be writing and starring in a film about Saartjie (Sarah) Baartman -- the South African woman who appeared in freak shows because of her physical features during the 1800s -- the multi-hyphenate is denying her involvement.

"Beyonce is in no way tied to this project," her rep told Billboard in a statement (Jan. 5). "This is an important story that should be told, however."

Baartman -- shown off in exhibits under the name Hottentot Venus -- was made a spectacle across Europe, particularly England and Paris for her voluptuous shape. She died in 1815 at the age of 26 -- five years after her arrival in Europe -- but did not receive a proper burial in her native South Africa until 2002.

Jack Devnarain, chairman of the South African Guild of Actors, echoed Beyonce's sentiment, telling Billboard over e-mail that Baartman's story deserves recognition.

"The story of Saartjie Baartman is a tale of torture and humiliation of a woman, womanhood in general and an entire culture indigenous to Southern Africa. As an episode in South African history, it describes the crippling damage of racism, sexism and exploitation," he said. "Baartman was paraded as a freak and brutally robbed of her humanity. Her story needs to be told."

Are LeToya Luckett and Rob Hill Sr. Engaged?

RollingOut.com:
Singer LeToya Luckett and heart healer Rob Hill Sr. are reportedly engaged. According to The YBF, Hill made the announcement on Thursday, Dec. 31 at the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church watch service in Norfolk, VA.
In addition to the [LeToya] belting out “Torn” and “a cover of “Withholding Nothing” with The Mount’s Unity choir, her man Rob held his “Hope For Love” session, too. That’s where he revealed the special news.
Our source tells TheYBF.com:
“He talked about his amazing year of embracing “Hope For Love” in his own life and just kinda confidently rattled off that he now had a fiancée!”
Although neither couple have confirmed the rumor just yet, the pair have been quite close for quite some time now. Last March, during an interview with ABC News Radio, the former Destiny’s Child member said her decision to stay private with the romance was because she wanted something that was real.

“I wanted to make sure that I built a foundation before just putting it out there. You know what I mean? I wanted to make sure that this is something real, that this is something that’s true and honest and not just to have a picture to post on Instagram,” she reported in a interview with TheYBF.com.

Michelle Williams Shares Her Winter Beauty Must-Haves & Skin Regimen

MadameNoire.com:
Aside from carrying the title of multi-hyphenate star, Michelle Williams has flawless skin. That’s a no-brainer with her beauty icons being fresh-faced beauties Dorothy Dandridge and Janet Jackson.

However, how the 35-year-old singer/songwriter/record producer preserves her sexy while handling a rigorous schedule is baffling. In a recent interview with Essence, Williams shared just how she preps for the holidays beauty-wise, including some of her favorite beauty products to use during this time of the year.

“More moisturizing! I use heavier creams now, and then in the summer time I might wear something that doesn’t leave oil. You know an SPF –which you should be wearing anyway. I also love my Clarisonic brush winter, spring, summer and fall. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older, but my skin is a little drier, she explained in regards to her wintertime skin regimen.

As far as beauty-must haves, Williams gushed over Kim Kimble’s silk shampoo treatment and conditioner. And for a beauty routine she makes use of before holiday parties, she’s all about a good scrub, Fresh’s Brown Sugar Body Polish to be exact! “I might do an extra sugar scrub to have really glowy skin. Although it’s really cold outside, the dresses that you might wear might be off the shoulder, might show some shoulder. So you want your skin to look toned, even and glowing.”

Beyoncé Knowles' 'Dangerously in Love' Album Surpasses 5 Million Sold in U.S.

Billboard.com:
Beyoncé’s debut solo album Dangerously In Love has now sold more than 5 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.

The effort, released in 2003, sold just over 2,000 copies in the week ending Dec. 24, bringing its cumulative total across the 5 million mark. It remains Beyoncé’s best-selling solo effort.
Dangerously In Love opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and was the first of so-far five No. 1 albums for the diva. All of her full-length studio efforts have reached the top slot, and all of them have sold at least a million copies: B’Day (released in 2006, 3.41 million sold), I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008, 3.2 million), 4 (2011, 1.5 million) and her self-titled album (2013; 2.3 million). So far, Beyoncé has sold 16 million solo albums in the U.S.

Destiny’s Child has four million-selling albums (including their biggest: The Writing’s On the Wall, with 6.4 million), while their total album sales stand at 17.5 million.
