Mini Destiny's Child Reunion as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams Arrive at the BET Awards in LA

DailyMail.uk:
There was a mini Destiny's Child reunion of sorts when Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams both put in an appearance at the BET Awards in Los Angeles.

It's been a decade since the all-girl trio of Rowland, Williams and Beyonce Knowles officially disbanded but the pair still have the stunning looks - and talent - that made them famous around the world.

Both have carved out successful music careers and Williams was nominated for the BET Best Gospel Artist Award at Sunday night's show.

Rowland, 34, opted for feathers for her night out at the event that honored African-American music and achievements.

She wore a high-necked, long-sleeved mini dress with black feathers dropping down from the thigh-skimming hem.

More feathers flowed down almost to the ground from her sleeves.

Happy Birthday, Solange Knowles! See the Star's Chicest Looks Ever

EOnline.com:
Happy 29th birthday, Solange Knowles!

Beyoncé's sis has become a style icon in her own right, which is why there is no day better than today to run down the list of her best looks—ever. We still covet the iridescent, marigold-hued Emilio Pucci column gown she wore to the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party—and have an equal love for the slim-fitting Calvin Klein Collection number she donned at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Also, it's obvious: Solange loves her some Stéphane Rolland Couture (the couturier responsible for a few of her head-turning wedding day looks). Most recently, she's stepped out in a cream-colored one-shoulder frock from the designer, but we're still reeling from the feathered Rolland confection she wore to the 2013 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony.

Some of our favorite Solange style moments have been Solange in a, well, suit: The singer's pink Gucci pantsuit was so chic, in fact, that Queen Bey had to take it for a date night whirl too. And back in 2013, it was her printed Diane von Furstenberg get-up that had our hearts aflutter.

Crop tops are also a sartorial habit for Solange, who wore this spotted Moschino cropped jacket and skirt combo for an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman. (Those Elizabeth & James pumps are still on our shoe hit list.)

And finally, the singer stepped out in Versailles last month in a stunning monochrome ensemble from—who else?—Stéphane Rolland, a simple but eye-catching look that solidifies her top-tier spot on our roster of style muses.

Beyonce Knowles In New Avengers Movie? Not Likely!

AccessHollywood.com:
Beyonce might be one of music's mightiest stars, but is she about to be one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes?

A (highly unlikely in our humble geek opinion!) casting rumor has surfaced claiming that Bey will be hanging with Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow and Captain America in an upcoming "Avengers" movie.
The Daily Star reported that the singer/actress is being considered for four possible characters, but Marvel Studios doesn't even have the rights to two of them… a true Marvel fan should already be able to see where this is going!

The paper listed Boom-Boom (the alter-ego of Tabitha Smith, a secret agent with the ability to create lethal plasma bombs with her mind) and Blink (a superhero who can teleport herself and others anywhere) as possible roles – but both characters are linked to the X-Men, which Fox Studios has the rights to and Marvel is not able to use on the big screen.

The paper also reported Bey could play Tigra (a cat-like crime-fighter with superhuman strength, speed and agility) or take over the role of Hawkeye (previously played by Jeremy Renner), but somehow we don't see this happening either.

As much as we'd love to see the "Dreamgirls" star branch out into the superhero world and slay Hydra villains, we're calling Loki mind-controlling shenanigans on this report!

While headlines begin to unfold about the 21-year-old accused of killing nine people when he opened fire in the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Beyoncé remembers to remember the men, women and children we lost.

Depayne Middleton Doctor, Cynthia Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lance, Tywanza Sanders, Myra Thompson, and Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr. A video version is posted to her Instagram.

"My heart is with the families, loved ones, and all of those affected by the senseless tragedy in Charleston," she wrote as a caption on both. "May they rest in peace."

The Story of the New Millennium As Told Through Beyonce Knowles' Eyebrows

Racked.com:
If eyebrows are the window to the soul, then Beyoncé's eyebrows are the window the American collective consciousness. Here now, with help from Wink Brow Bar’s Founder Umbreen Sheikh, is the definitive Beyoncé eyebrow timeline, a document that spins the story of the 2000s with startling precision, not a hair loose.

1998

Beyonce's arched eyebrows, thinned towards the end, were "so on-trend" for 1998, according to Sheikh. The cringingly appropriated bindi placed between Beyoncé's brows–a fad in the late 1990s oft-attributed to Gwen Stefani–paired with a silver lamé brocade dress reflect a smaller, more insular, pre-9/11 America. LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Robertson were still part of Destiny's Child. Beyoncé's brand, like all of our brands, and Beyoncé's eyebrows, like all of our eyebrows, had yet to be honed with exacting detail on Tumblr. And yet, the world still spun on its axis.

2001

"Here," said Sheikh, "Beyoncé is still rocking the thinner, arched brow look of the early ‘00s." Beyoncé's raised brows, particularly on the left brow, signal wryly that she has a master plan for the new millennium, even if the rest of us were still stumbling and groping our way into the early aughts.
No longer able to take solace in our Y2K contingency plans, the nation turned to Beyoncé. In 2001, "Independent Woman"  was at the top of the charts and we all thought, "This is literally my jam" in whatever the parlance was in those days.

2003

2003 was the year of Beyoncé's first solo album, "Dangerously in Love." Accordingly, her eyebrows became bolder, wilder, and more daring (The left one, I've nicknamed Bonnie, the right one, Clyde). Sheikh calls this era The Reign of the Beyoncé Power Brow. "Her brows have gone under a wonderful transformation," said Sheikh, "adding a youthfulness to her face as it helps to incorporate fullness to sharp features."
This same year ushered in an epoch of unconventional grooming and we have Beyoncé's brow to thank and nothing else. It was all Bey's brows. They weren't always the right style decisions–mustaches, fedoras resting atop faux-hawks, etc.–but they had a point of view.

10 Times Destiny's Child Proved They Were Too Good For This World

Before there was Beyoncé, there was Destiny’s Child: a trio (and occasionally more) of singers who released still-amazing songs including “Say My Name” and “Bootylicious.” But 10 years ago this weekend, the group’s core, Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland, and Beyoncé, split up.

They all launched solo careers, and Beyoncé achieved superstar status. To toast the magical years Destiny’s Child blessed us with their music, dancing, and ridiculous outfits, EW is celebrating their existence with the 10 times they wowed us.

1. When they decided on their final name: From the beginning, the group was made up of multiple people—yet they went with the singular “Child” instead of the more sensical “Children.” Destiny’s Child made their debut by proving they are above logic (and by opening up a bible, according to Beyoncé).

2. When they released a Christmas album including the original single “8 Days of Christmas” in 2001: Who really needs 12 days of Christmas anyway?

3. When they all matched in the “Say My Name” video: Before there was 50 Shades of Grey’s Red Room, there was Destiny’s Child’s red room… and their orange room, and their blue room, and their white room. The group’s members were pros at playing with color, and that’s on full display in the 2000 music video.

4. Whenever they made a “Pt. I” and a “Pt. 2” of a song: “No No No,” “With Me,” and “Independent Women” all have two parts. The only thing better than a one-part Destiny’s Child song is a two-part Destiny’s Child song (sadly, they never showed the world what they could do with a third part).

5. When they released “Bills Bills Bills,” a go-to song for anyone dating someone who’s just not cutting it: “Bills Bills Bills” ranks alongside TLC’s “No Scrubs” (both released in 1999) as a gem in the I-don’t-need-you category of songs. The ladies spend the track asking a guy if he can pay their bills, only to reply, “If you did then maybe we could chill / I don’t think you do / So you and me are through.”

Beyonce Knowles Faces Lawsuit For Allegedly Stealing ‘XO’ Song From Background Singer

AllHipHop.com:
One of Beyonce’s former backup singers is accusing her of being a thief. Ahmad Lane, a former backup singer, alleges that he wrote Beyonce’s hit “XO” first and that Bey stole it from him, Radar Online reports. Lane has filed a $7 million lawsuit against Bey.

According to the documents, Lane says that while singing background for another artist along with fellow background singer Chrissy Collins, who also sings backup for Beyonce, he shared his song “XOXO” with her. Lane believes that Collins shared the song with the “7/11″ singer.

Lane says that “XO”  “allegedly copies the first four bars of an eight bar melody that is looped,” and “contains a four note sequence that is similar to the four note sequence” of his song.

On June 5th, Beyonce responded to these claims saying that she is world renowned singer who has sold 118 million records and won 17 Grammys and does not have to resort to such measures to birth a hit song. She called the allegations “vague and cryptic” and said that the two songs have no similarities besides the “X” and the “O.”...

Kelly Rowland Pregnant Again?

IBTimes.com:
Her son is not even one-year-old but it looks like Kelly Rowland may have another one on the way.

The Destiny's Child star has sparked rumours she pregnant with her second baby after being photographed holding her stomach on a shopping trip.

In photographs published by Necolebitchie.com, the 34-year-old singer can be seen leaving the Bel Bambini baby boutique in West Hollywood wearing a loose grey Nike sweatsuit.

The mother-of-one, who tied the knot with her manager in an intimate Costa Rica ceremony in May 2014, previously revealed that she would love to have a big family.

"[I] Absolutely [want more children] — but at least four years from now. I wanted to instill in him everything, that I can and I want that to be one-to-one because I really want to raise a great man."

Rowland gave birth to her son Titan Jewell in November and introduced him to the world in the April issue of Essence magazine. The cover shoot shows the Motivation hitmaker cradling her newborn, while Witherspoon looks on smiling.

If the Dirty Laundry hitmaker is in the family way it won't be easy to top her last pregnancy announcement. She dropped that baby bombshell by sharing a cute image of a pair of Air Jordans with a mini version of the trainers next to them captioned: "I'll be stuntin like my daddy ..."

Beyoncé Knowles Course Debuts This Fall at University of Waterloo

CBA.ca.com:
About 11 minutes into Beyoncé's performance 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, she rolled across the stage alone on moving sidewalk, backlit by a giant array of lights spelling out the word "FEMINIST" while part of her hit, Flawless played.

Her unequivocal statement had feminists cheering. Arguably the most influential woman in entertainment was telling the world that being a feminist was great, that it wasn't a dirty word.  "There it was, the most powerful, and certainly the most highly polished pop-culture message of my lifetime," wrote Rebecca Traister for The New Republic.

Now, that performance and Beyoncé's cultural influence —  some might even say domination —  are the subjects of an unusual new course called Gender and Performance at the University of Waterloo.

"I had to take up the work of this performer who is astute, an astute businesswoman, who is articulating a kind of feminism that is fascinating and very much of the 21st century and is definitely a mainstream feminism," said Naila Keleta-Mae, a professor at Waterloo who will teach the course this fall. "I was really interested in thinking about her work more critically."

"This is not an ode to Beyoncé, where we sit back and watch her videos and think about fully how amazing she is. What we have to think about is her influence and her impact, and what is the messaging that she is articulating, not only through words, but also through images," said Keleta-Mae

The undergraduate course will be offered by the university's drama and speech communication department, and has no prerequisite, so anyone can sign up. It will focus on the impact of Beyoncé's eponymous 2013 album, Beyoncé. But students shouldn't expect the course to be a hit parade or that the performer won't come under critical scrutiny.

In the track Flawless, Beyoncé included a portion of Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's TEDx talk titled, "We should all be feminists."

Kelly Rowland Channels Diana Ross, Sade and Other Divas in Hair Cover Shoot

TheRoot.com:
Kelly Rowland got her hair (well, weave, but whatever) blown out, curled, braided, slicked back, straightened and bumped to achieve a few of the signature hair looks donned by pop-culture icons Diana Ross, Sade, Bianca Jagger and Farida Khelfa Goude.
In a photo shoot with Mane Addicts, Rowland described her hair journey from the cute, short bob she donned during her early days with Destiny’s Child to the longer hair she now sports as a new mom and wife.
Rowland isn’t afraid to switch it up every now and then, and it doesn’t hurt that her timeless beauty jells well with some of these hairstyles that span generations.

Beyoncé Knowles Shares Short Shorts, Velvet Couches In New Personal Photos

HuffPo.com:
Shorts so short they can't get any shorter.

Beyoncé shared a collection of photos on the "My Life" album on her Tumblr page Monday. One showed her wearing a pair of impossibly tiny denim shorts and a leather jacket. Two others showed her in the same outfit, lounging on some velvet furniture.

On Monday morning's "Good Morning America," Beyoncé revealed what was teased as a "big announcement": how she gets her "flawless" physique. The answer is the 22-day vegan challenge through meal-delivery service 22 Days Nutrition founded by her trainer, Marco Borges.

"I am not naturally the thinnest woman," she said in a prerecorded video. "I have curves. I'm proud of my curves. I have struggled since a young age with diets. Finding something that actually works, that actually keeps the weight off, has been difficult for me."
