Tour Rumors Surround the Artists Formerly Known as Destiny’s Child

TheRoot.com:
Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams recently reunited to perform at the Stellar Awards, but they weren’t appearing as Destiny’s Child. Williams, who has launched a successful gospel career since the 2006 split, was up for three awards for her song “Say Yes,” which originally appeared on her 2014 album Journey to Freedom.

After the surprise performance, rumors are now circulating about a possible tour. There’s just one caveat: They can’t tour using their old group name.

“Although Destiny’s Child is made up of the three ladies, Beyoncé’s father and former manager Mathew Knowles owns one-fourth of the group as well. Anytime they do anything under the name Destiny’s Child, he has involvement in it and money from it,” an insider told the Daily Mail.

“At best they maybe could offer him a flat rate or one-time settlement to buy out his portion of the group, but otherwise we may never get a Destiny’s Child reunion because none of them want him to benefit financially,” the source said.

One after another, the former members of Destiny’s Child dropped Knowles as their manager. Williams, Rowland and Beyoncé severed ties with their embattled manager amid troubles including lawsuits against him, his admitted infidelity and his out-of-wedlock children.
So if the three decide to embark on a tour—which would probably turn into a cash cow—they’re doing everything to make sure Knowles doesn’t profit from their endeavors, if reports are correct.
