Since her departure from Destiny’s Child LaTavia Roberson has remained under the radar with the exception of starring in a number of play-adaptions. Now the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter is making yet, another slight career shift as the latest addition to season 3 of TV One’s "R&B Divas Atlanta."
During a recent interview with Madame Noire, Roberson opened up on the aftermath following her exit from the famed girl group.
“I started to kind of live in my head. The group was in itself. It was hard. It was like a bad marriage that ended. Because I love the girls very much, and it’s like you spend all of your time with your childhood friends and then it’s over,” she recalled.
“And it’s like, wow, that’s being taken away from me. So then I had a lot of time to live in my own head, and be by myself and then I started dwelling on things that happened to me in my past and my childhood, and things with my parents. And I was like, ‘oh my gosh.’ So I started to try to self-soothe with alcohol. And it wasn’t the best thing.”
In addition to discussing her bout with alcohol, the 32-year-old Houston native also shared her thoughts on her former manager, Mathew Knowles’ ongoing paternity drama.
